Guide

Email your students

A step by step guide to emailing your students from Sequence/OS: build a mailing list from your booking page, send a class alert or a term announcement, and keep consent, unsubscribes and replies in good order.

Works the same on the web and in the iPhone app.

Step 1

Let students join your list

  • Your booking page carries a sign-up for people who are not ready to book yet.
  • Students can also opt in while booking a class.
  • Every sign-up is recorded with a date, so you can show how someone joined.

Step 2

Choose what to send

A class alert is tied to one class and carries its date, place, price and a Book button. A general email goes to your whole list: a new term, a workshop, a retreat, or simply hello.

Step 3

Write it in your own voice

  • A short subject line that says what it is: Summer classes are live to book.
  • One idea per email, and one thing to do at the end.
  • The design follows your booking page, so you do not have to lay anything out.

Step 4

Send, and see what went

Send to yourself first if you want to check it. Afterwards, everything appears under Previously sent emails, grouped by month.

Step 5

Stay on the right side of the rules

  • Only email people who asked to hear from you.
  • Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and it works instantly.
  • Unsubscribes are respected everywhere; you cannot accidentally email someone again.
  • Booking confirmations and class change notices are service messages and always go out.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my existing list?
Only people who have agreed to hear from you. Never upload a bought or scraped list: it damages deliverability for every teacher on the platform and breaks UK and EU rules.
Where do replies go?
To the contact email on your booking profile. The email is sent from a Sequence/OS sending address in your name, but a student who hits reply reaches you.
How do I know it sent?
Each send is listed under Previously sent emails on the marketing screen, grouped by month with the newest month open. Send one to yourself first if you want to see exactly what a student sees.
A test email never arrived, what now?
Check the spam folder first. Some personal mail providers are strict with new senders, so try a second address at a different provider. If an address has bounced or been marked as spam before, it can be suppressed and will need clearing before it will receive anything.
