Everything about planning classes, teaching hands-free with Play Mode, taking bookings and payments, waiting lists, passes, reminders, attendance, invoicing gyms and studios, emailing your students, syncing across devices, and pricing.

About Sequence/OS

What is Sequence/OS?

+

Sequence/OS is a teaching companion for yoga professionals. It gives you a pose library with cues and alignment notes, a sequence builder that lets you drag poses into a class, a hands-free Play Mode so you can teach from your mat without holding a phone, and a place to save mini-sequences you reuse week after week. It also handles the work around the class: a public booking page with card payments, waiting lists, class passes, reminders, an attendance register, invoices for the gyms and studios that pay you, and emails to your own students.

Who is Sequence/OS for?

+

It is built for yoga teachers, studio teachers, private teachers, teachers on training courses, and anyone who plans classes ahead of time and wants those plans to be usable in the room. It suits you whether students book and pay through you, a studio pays you a flat fee you invoice for, or both at once. It is not designed as a general fitness app for students.

How is Sequence/OS different from other yoga apps?

+

Most yoga apps are built for students following a video. Planning apps stop at the plan, and booking apps stop at the studio front desk. Sequence/OS is the only one doing both: the pose library, sequence builder, written cues, mini-sequences and Play Mode for the class itself, and bookings, waiting lists, passes, reminders, attendance, invoicing and student emails for everything around it, on one subscription.

Who built Sequence/OS?

+

Sequence/OS was built by Liz, a working yoga teacher, for other yoga teachers. The pose library, cues, and pose notes are written from a teacher's perspective rather than pulled from generic reference material, and the app keeps changing because it is used in real classes every week. Read the full story.

Why doesn't Sequence/OS use pictures of poses?

+

There is no such thing as a perfect pose. How a pose looks in one body can look significantly different in another, so a picture can be unhelpful when you try to create the same shape in a body that is not ready, or that will never go into that position. It can make us more likely to cause injury or damage, or to target the wrong area. Our focus is on knowing how the pose should feel in your body, not how it looks. That is why we give detailed pose descriptions instead of pictures.

Is this the same as Āsana/OS?

+

Yes. Sequence/OS was previously known as Āsana/OS; we renamed to avoid confusion with the project management tool of the same name.

Planning classes

How do I build a class in Sequence/OS?

+

Open the Class Builder, add poses from the searchable library, drag them into the order you want, and set a duration for each pose. You can group poses into repeats (e.g. right side / left side), drop in saved mini-sequences, and use the Inspire Me tool to generate a starting outline that you then customise.

What is a mini-sequence?

+

A mini-sequence is a short group of poses you use again and again, a sun salutation variation, a warm-up sequence, a peak pose prep. You save it once in your library and then drop it into any class in a single tap, and it expands into individual poses in the builder and in Play Mode.

Can I add my own poses?

+

Yes. You can create custom poses with your own name, Sanskrit, cue, category, and duration, and they sit alongside the built-in library in your sequences.

How does Inspire Me work?

+

Inspire Me generates a six-pose class outline, grounding pose, opening pranayama, warm-up, peak, seated cool-down, and Corpse Pose, that you then flesh out yourself. It is a starting scaffold, not a full auto-generated class.

Can I print my class plan?

+

Yes. Every sequence has a printable sheet view with the full pose list, durations, and cues, formatted so it stays legible on paper. Repeated groups collapse to save space (e.g. "Repeat 3× R/L") instead of listing every pose.

Teaching with Play Mode

Can I teach a class hands-free?

+

Yes, that is what Play Mode is designed for. It runs your sequence with a timer, the written cue on each pose, a right-side / left-side prompt, and a preview of the coming-next pose. Spoken cues are for practice mode, so you can rehearse the class before you teach it. You can put your phone on the floor and teach from your mat.

What view options does Play Mode have?

+

Four views: Focus (minimal, one pose at a time), Teach (current pose plus what is coming next), Large (high-contrast, extra-large text and side glyph for when your phone is on the floor), and Playlist (adds your Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube embed).

Does the voiceover use a real voice?

+

Practice mode speaks your cues with natural-sounding voices, with several options to choose from. Cues are read from the long-form voiceover notes attached to each pose, so what you hear is what a teacher would actually say, not a generic pose name.

Can I turn the timer off?

+

Yes. Loose classes let you disable the timer entirely and advance manually to the next pose whenever you are ready, useful for workshops, privates, and any class that does not run on a fixed clock.

Which side am I on right now?

+

Every view in Play Mode shows a right-side or left-side prompt so you don't lose track mid-class. In Large view the side glyph is extra big for phone-on-floor teaching.

Can I add my own music?

+

Yes. In Playlist view you can paste a Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube playlist link and it embeds directly into the play screen alongside your poses.

Account and syncing

Do my classes sync between devices?

+

Yes. Sequences, mini-sequences, custom poses, and preferences sync to your account. If you edit on one device and then open another, the newer edit wins so you don't lose work. Bookings, waiting lists, passes, attendance, invoices and your mailing list live on your account rather than on one device, so they are the same on the web and in the iPhone app.

Does Sequence/OS work offline?

+

Yes, for the parts you need in the room. Once you have opened the app on a connection, your saved classes, the class builder, the pose library, mini-sequences and custom poses, the calendar, your preferences and Play Mode all keep working with no signal, and refreshing the page still loads the app. Voiceover clips you have already played in practice mode are stored on your device and replay offline. What does need a connection: signing in, syncing between devices, generating brand new voiceover lines, streaming music, Community, chat and the teacher directory, Inspire me, billing, and anything that talks to your students or clients, so bookings, waiting lists, passes, reminders, attendance you are saving, invoices and emails. A tip: open a class once on WiFi before you teach it so its cues are cached, and anything you edit offline syncs automatically as soon as you are back online.

Is my class content private?

+

Yes. Your sequences, mini-sequences, and custom poses are private to your account by default. You can share a specific class via a share link if you want to, but nothing is public unless you choose to make it so. Your booking page is the one part meant to be public, and your student list, health form answers, attendance history and invoices stay private to you.

Pricing and trial

How much does Sequence/OS cost?

+

$30/month or $300/year (£25/month or £250/year for UK teachers) after a 7-day free trial. Teachers in the United Kingdom are shown and charged in pounds; everywhere else is charged in US dollars. Class bookings and email marketing are included, with no extra subscription. Cancel any time during the trial and you are not charged.

Do I need a credit card to start the trial?

+

No. The 7-day free trial on the web needs no card at all. Add a card only if you want to keep going afterwards. If you subscribe inside the iPhone app, Apple handles the billing through your Apple ID instead.

How do I cancel?

+

Open your account page and cancel from there. Cancelling stops future billing at the end of your current period; you keep access until then.

Do you offer refunds?

+

See the refunds page for the current policy, the short version is that the 7-day trial exists so you can decide before you are charged.

Class bookings and payments

Can students book my classes through Sequence/OS?

+

Yes. Every teacher gets a public booking page at sequenceos.app/book/your-name. You choose one of four designs, add your photos and your story, and list your classes. Students see what you are teaching, book a place, fill in a health form and pay by card.

How do I get paid, and what does Sequence/OS take?

+

You connect your own Stripe account once, and payments for your classes go straight to you. Sequence/OS takes a 1% platform fee. Stripe's own card fee applies separately and varies by country (see your Stripe dashboard).

Do I have to charge for classes, or take card payments at all?

+

No. Leave a class free and students simply reserve a place, with no Stripe account needed. You can connect Stripe later, whenever you decide to start charging, and free and paid classes can sit side by side on the same page.

What does a student receive when they book?

+

A confirmation email with the class, date, time and place, carrying the design you chose for your booking page. If details change they are emailed the new ones, if the class is cancelled they are told, and reminders follow if you have them switched on. Replies come back to the contact email on your booking profile.

Which currency are my class prices in?

+

The currency of your own Stripe account. A teacher in the United Kingdom sells classes in pounds, a teacher in the United States in dollars, a teacher in the eurozone in euros. That is separate from your Sequence/OS subscription currency.

Can I run a course or sell a block of classes?

+

Yes. Set a class to repeat weekly and all the dates are created, with block pricing if you want the whole course sold in one go. A weekly repeat at the same time and place is added to your teaching calendar automatically.

What happens when I cancel a class?

+

The class is marked cancelled and kept on record, everyone booked is emailed, and you choose whether to refund through Stripe or carry the payment over to another class. You can cancel a single date or all remaining dates of a course.

Do bookings link to the class I planned?

+

Yes. A booking class can be added to your teaching calendar, and a calendar class can be opened for bookings. Open the class on your calendar and you see who is coming, with any health considerations you should know about.

What happens when a class is full?

+

Students join the waiting list rather than being turned away. When someone cancels, the next person on the list takes the place and is emailed to say they are in. If the class is paid, they are offered the place with 24 hours to pay, so nobody is charged unexpectedly. You can see the waiting list in order and remove anyone who no longer needs a place.

Can I control how late students book or cancel?

+

Yes. Set a default booking cut-off and cancellation cut-off, anything from right up to the start time to a week before, and override either on an individual class. Your public page follows the rule and it is checked again when the booking is made. Students can cancel their own place within the window, and it passes to the next person waiting.

Are class reminders sent automatically?

+

If you switch them on. A reminder can go out 24 hours before a class and again 2 hours before, each one optional and each sent only once. They are separate from the class alerts and broadcasts you write yourself.

Can I sell a class pass rather than fixed dates?

+

Yes. A pass is a rolling balance of credits, for example ten classes valid for twelve weeks, bought once by card. Students spend a credit whenever they book, and their remaining credits show against their name in Clients. Turn a pass off when you stop selling it; passes already bought keep working.

Can I keep a register of who came?

+

Yes. After a class, mark each student Attended or No-show, or mark everyone attended in one tap. It builds into a history against each student, alongside any pass credits they have left.

Can I bring my existing clients over from another booking system?

+

Yes. In Clients, use Import existing clients to paste in a spreadsheet or CSV of your client list. The first row needs these headings: email address, first name, last name, signed up to marketing (yes or no), phone number (can be blank) and notes (optional). Rows that are missing an email or a name, or that are unclear, are skipped and listed so you can fix them. Health forms do not transfer: every imported client fills in a new health form the first time they book a class with you. Read the bookings guide.

How is student health information handled?

+

Health form answers are encrypted, visible only to the teacher the student booked with, and every time a form is opened that access is logged. You set how long forms are kept and can action a student's deletion request from the privacy screen. Read the bookings guide.

Invoicing gyms and studios

Can I invoice a gym or studio that pays me directly?

+

Yes. When you plan a class, tick Add to invoice, choose who it is billed to and enter the agreed fee. The Invoices tab groups those classes by billing contact, and you generate a numbered invoice for whatever date range you choose, on the same branding as your booking page.

Can I invoice for something that is not a planned class?

+

Yes. Add a line by hand for a workshop, a cover class, a training day or a private session: who it is billed to, a description, the date, an optional time and place, and the amount.

Can I email an invoice, and what does it look like?

+

Yes. Send it straight to the billing contact's invoice email, and they open it from a link. Invoices carry the design you chose for your booking page, with your photo or logo, your business details, your bank details and VAT number if you have added them, every class or line with its date and amount, and the total. Your copy, their copy and the printed or saved PDF all match.

How are invoices numbered?

+

In order from SEQ-0001, so your records line up for your accounts. If an invoice is wrong, void it rather than deleting it, which keeps the numbering and the record intact.

How do I track what I am owed?

+

Mark each invoice Sent when it goes out and Paid when the money lands, with a payment due date on each one. Anything past its due date is flagged Overdue automatically, and outstanding, overdue and paid so far this year are totalled at the top of the tab.

Is invoicing the same as taking card payments?

+

No. Card payments through Stripe are for students booking your own classes. Invoicing collects nothing online, because gyms and studios usually pay by bank transfer after they receive a document. Sequence/OS produces the invoice and keeps the record, and there is no platform fee on it.

Are billing contacts separate from my students?

+

Completely. Billing contacts are the gyms, studios and private clients you invoice, with their own contact name, invoice email and billing address. They are kept apart from your class students and your marketing list, and never receive class emails. Read the invoicing guide.

Emailing your students

Can I email my students from Sequence/OS?

+

Yes. Students join your mailing list from your booking page or while booking, and you can send an alert about one class or a general email to your whole list, for example that summer classes are live to book.

Who do my emails appear to come from?

+

You. Each teacher has a sender identity in their own name on the Sequence/OS sending domain, and replies are routed to the contact email on your booking profile. You do not connect a Gmail or personal email account.

Which emails go out on their own, and which do I write?

+

Sent for you: booking confirmations, class change and cancellation notices, waiting list offers and places, pass purchases, and the 24 hour and 2 hour reminders if you switch them on. Written by you: an alert to the students of one class, and a general email to your whole list. Invoices go only to the billing contact you send them to.

What about consent and unsubscribes?

+

Consent is recorded when someone joins, every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribes are respected across all future sends. Booking confirmations and class change notices are service messages and always go out. Read the marketing guide.

Safety

Is Sequence/OS safe to teach from?

+

Sequence/OS is a planning and playback tool, not a substitute for teacher training. The cues, alignment notes, and modifications are guidance. You are responsible for the safety of your students, for adapting poses to their bodies, and for referring students to a physician when appropriate.

Can students use Sequence/OS on their own?

+

The app is built for teachers, but nothing stops a student from using it. If you do, please read the safety page and use every pose at your own risk, the app is not a replacement for a qualified teacher.
