Why Sequence/OS Isn't an AI Class Generator

There's a version of this app we could have built. Type in "60 minute vinyasa, tight hips, intermediate," hit a button, and a fully sequenced class appears: poses, timing, cues, the whole thing done for you.

We didn't build that. On purpose.

What makes a teacher fabulous isn't replaceable

If you've taken a class from a teacher you love, you know it's not the poses. It's the way they read the room. The transition that surprised you. The cue that landed at exactly the right moment because they've taught a thousand hip openers and know what this body, in this room, on this Tuesday, actually needs.

That's not a formula. It's taste, built over years of mats and mistakes and the students who taught you more than any training ever did. It's yours.

An AI generator that spits out a finished class quietly tells you that taste is replaceable, that any competent algorithm can do what you do, just faster. We think that's wrong. So Sequence/OS was never going to be that tool.

What we built instead

Sequence/OS is built for planning and sequencing, for the actual work of building a class, not for generating one on your behalf. You still make every decision. We just make those decisions easier to hold, organize, and build on.

Two features carry most of that weight, and both work the same way: as a starting point, never a finished class.

Inspire Me

When you're stuck, staring at a blank sequence fifteen minutes before class with nothing coming, Inspire Me gives you a nudge. A theme, a shape, a possible arc for the class. Not a script.

Think of it like a colleague tossing out an idea in the studio hallway. You take what's useful, leave what isn't, and shape the rest into something that sounds like you. The output is raw material. What you do with it is the teaching.

Share Classes

Share Classes has nothing to do with AI at all. It lets teachers show each other actual sequences they've built and taught, with real context behind them.

This is how teaching has always spread: by watching how someone else solved a problem you're also wrestling with. Share Classes just makes that easier to do at scale, without losing the fact that every sequence in there came from a real person who taught it, adjusted it, and made it theirs first.

Inspire, not replace

Inspiration respects your judgment. Replacement bypasses it.

Every feature in Sequence/OS hands you something you can react to, adapt, argue with, or throw out entirely. Nothing you're meant to just accept. Your fingerprints stay on the class. The app disappears into the workflow instead of trying to become the teacher.

Why this matters

Plenty of the yoga app market is chasing engagement: more sessions, more screen time, more "features" that quietly make the teacher less necessary. That's not who we're building for.

Sequence/OS is for teachers who take the craft seriously enough to want better tools for it, not a shortcut around it. If you're the kind of teacher whose classes people come back for specifically because they're yours, this app was built to protect that.

Sequencing is craft. Craft doesn't get generated. It gets built, one class at a time, by the person who's actually going to teach it.
